About Epilepsy
Root Causes
- Aggravated Vata Dosha disrupts nerve impulses and brain activity.
- Suppressed emotions like fear, anger, or grief affect the mind (Manovaha Srotas).
- Accumulation of Ama (toxins) in the nervous system impairs mental clarity.
- Weakness of Majja Dhatu (nervous tissue and bone marrow).
- Genetic or congenital doshic imbalances are passed from birth.
- Past trauma or injury affecting the head or spine.
- Irregular eating and sleeping habits, disturbing biological rhythms.
- Excessive indulgence in tamasic food (oily, stale, heavy-to-digest).
- Neglect of mental wellness, leading to loss of sattva (mental stability).
Symptoms
- Sudden loss of consciousness without warning.
- Jerky, involuntary movements of limbs.
- Eye rolling or upward gaze during episodes.
- Drooling or frothing from the mouth.
- Temporary body stiffness or rigidity.
- Unusual sounds or vocal outbursts during a seizure.
- Confusion or memory loss after the attack.
- Sensation of fear, anxiety, or déjà vu before seizure.
- Loss of bowel or bladder control during episodes.
- Sudden blank stares or unresponsiveness (absence seizures).
But Why Me?
It’s a question that haunts many living with epilepsy: “Why did this happen to me?”
Ayurveda answers this not with fear, but with clarity. Epilepsy, known as Apasmara, is seen as a deep imbalance in Vata dosha affecting the manovaha srotas, the subtle mind-body channels. It can arise from poor digestion, toxic accumulation, unresolved emotional trauma, or even genetic predisposition. Sudden mental shocks, long-standing stress, irregular lifestyle, and overconsumption of tamasic food disturb the equilibrium of the nervous system. Does that happen all of a sudden? No, Ayurveda believes every disorder has a reason, that the body had warned earlier.

Naad Pariksha detects elemental imbalances through sound analysis.

Nadi pariksha identifies doshic imbalances & physical issues via pulse.

Udar-Parikshan identifies digestion and food absorption imbalances.

Birth-month diagnosis customizes treatment to your unique Prakruti.

Personalized Panchabhautik care ensures lasting digestive balance and relief.

Our Process

Our Advanced Approach to Epilepsy Disease Treatment
Our approach is distinctive, and it emphasizes personalizing care. According to Ayurveda, epilepsy is caused by aggravated Vata and Tamas disrupting the mind-body channels and nervous tissue. Our approach begins with a detailed Prakruti analysis and Nadi Pariksha to assess the depth of neuro-imbalance. We combine Vata-pacifying therapies like Shirodhara, Takradhara, Nasya, and Basti with oral medications made from neuro-restorative herbs such as Brahmi, Mandukaparni, Ashwagandha, and Jatamansi. These therapies are not only calming but also help regulate synaptic response and enhance cognitive clarity. What sets Prakruti apart is our multi-dimensional focus, from cleansing subtle toxins to nourishing brain tissue and pacifying emotional triggers. Each step is medically monitored, and our serene hilltop center offers the ideal setting to recover, reset, and reclaim long-term neurological wellness, naturally and responsibly.
Tailored Care Through Expert Consultation
At Prakruti, every epilepsy case begins with an in-depth consultation led by expert Ayurvedic physicians trained in neurological care. We go beyond surface-level symptoms and assess your Prakruti, Vikruti, mental constitution, dietary patterns, and emotional triggers. Our consultations include Nadi Pariksha, Prakruti analysis, birthdate-specific diagnosis, and Ayurvedic psychological profiling to understand the deeper imbalances of Vata, Majja Dhatu, and Manovaha Srotas. This allows us to craft a stage-wise, customized treatment plan, combining internal Rasayana herbs with external calming therapies that address both seizure patterns and their underlying causes. With 25+ years of clinical experience, we offer safe, personalized solutions where conventional paths fall short.
The Oral Medication + Purvakarma
Before starting full-fledged epilepsy treatment, Ayurveda emphasizes Purvakarma, preparatory therapies designed to loosen deep-seated toxins and stabilize Vata dosha, which is central to epilepsy. At Prakruti, this includes internal oleation (Snehana) and therapeutic steam (Swedana) to relieve nerve tension. These therapies prepare the body and nervous system for deeper cleansing and correction in the main phase of Panchakarma.
The Oral Medication + Pradhankarma/Panchakarma
Once the body is prepared, Ayurveda moves into Pradhankarma, the core therapeutic phase aimed at detoxifying the nervous system and restoring doshic balance. At Prakruti, therapies like Nasya (nasal administration of oils), Shirodhara (continuous oil flow on the forehead), and Basti (therapeutic enemas) are carefully selected to pacify aggravated Vata in the Majja Dhatu (nervous tissue) and support overall neurological health.
Post-Treatment Support (Paschat Karma) in Ayurveda
Paschat Karma in epilepsy care is not an afterthought; in fact, it’s a disciplined continuation of healing. At Prakruti, this phase focuses on stabilizing the nervous system, reducing relapse risk, and reinforcing neuro-immune strength. Rasayana therapies such as Medhya Rasayanas (like Brahmi, Mandukaparni, and Shankhpushpi) are integrated with tailored lifestyle guidance based on the patient's Prakruti and Samprapti. Patients are guided on Vihara (daily routines), Ahara (diet protocols that avoid seizure triggers), and seasonal Panchakarma maintenance. According to ancient Ayurvedic texts, this stage determines long-term success. Our specialists continuously monitor response markers, both physical and psychological, to ensure sustained balance and prevent recurrence.
An Annual Program to Prevent Epilepsy Recurrence
At Prakruti Ayurvedic Health Center, Apunarbhava Chikitsa is our signature annual regimen designed to break the cycle of recurring epileptic episodes. Curated by Vaidya Suyog Dandekar, this program integrates seasonal Panchakarma, Medhya Rasayana rejuvenation, and nervous system–strengthening therapies to reinforce neuro-stability. With tailored monitoring, doshic balance restoration, and relapse prevention strategies, this protocol is not just a treatment; it’s a lifelong neurological safeguard. For patients exhausted by temporary results, this is Ayurvedic intelligence at its finest, preventive, precise, and empowering.

Prakruti Ayurvedic Health Center is a really good recommendation for those who are looking forward for ayurvedic treatments. As a diabetic patient myself, I have found myself curing through this use of treatment. The doctors here are very well aware of the techniques and guides each and every patient correctly. They set a daily routine starting from morning 5:30 am and ends by 9 pm. So by this your daily sleep cycle is maintained. The rooms here are very hygienic and clean, well sanitised. The staff are very helpful and very humble. Talking about the location, it’s on the kaas road, beautiful as heaven. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the surrounding is full of greens. They conduct yoga session in the morning which is very enjoyable. No doubt the best part is the food they provide.
